Joe Rudi Studio

The 40th issue of Corraini Edizioni’s non-conforming magazine Un Sedicesimo was dedicated to my collection of blue sky cutouts. I began collecting skies in 2008 as a reaction to mounting feelings of anxiety and melancholy. When particularly troubled, I would cut away a segment of blue sky from the travel pages of a newspaper or magazine and preserve the sky as a souvenir of (wistful) travel and escape.

As “Un Sedicesimo” translates to “a sixteenth” my edition of the magazine covers the world via sixteen skies, plotting the distance between their location and my studio in Nottingham. The archive of Un Sedicesimo issues can be found here.
